A time lapse video is a process where there are numerous pictures being taken at exactly the same viewpoint over a consistent and fixed period of time. This consistency gives the illusion of time passing extremely quickly. Popular examples of time lapse videos are of cities going from night to day, the night sky moving, and flowers slowly blooming over days and weeks. This is a very time consuming process usually depending on the subject you choose to shoot.

Stop motions are a little different in that the consistencies between the two shots between the frames are different. In time lapses, the shots are fixed and consistent, but in stop-motion they are a forced-inconsistent. A popular example of this process is making inanimate objects seemingly come to life and tell a narrative.
